Last year Rockstar has announced that all the resources available are focused towards the release of Red Dead Redemption 2. Many GTA fans were left heartbroken because they had high hopes GTA VI might get released in 2018, since there have been several years without a new single player game for the franchise. A glimpse of hope was given by industry analysts who believe GTA VI is to be released in 2020.
Michael Pachter is optimistic
The industry analyst Michael Pachter believes that two years after Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released; GTA VI is going to be announced officially.
Pachter declared for Gaming Bolt that a new GTA game will be released in 2022. He made this prediction taking into account the fact that the Red Dead Redemption sequel is being launched eight years after the first game. If that were to be true, the best case scenario is for GTA VI to be released in 2021.
Another hypothesis is that since Red Dead Redemption 2 will be launched in spring 2018, a new GTA VI game will be released in 2020.
GTA Online is still producing money
Meanwhile, Rockstar is still making money from the GTA franchise. The online multiplayer is still popular.
Take-Two, Rockstar’s publisher posted a release in which GTA V was one of the most profitable games of the industry, selling more than 85 million copies in the US. Due to the fact that the sales figures are so high, Rockstar might not be in a hurry to create a new single player.
Some GTA fans have started to believe that the simplest solution to speed things up is to stop buying GTA V. They believe that if the sales decrease, the developer might consider making a new game.
